I am taking things a little easier right now but that does not mean I have stepped away from fitness. In fact this short break from teaching LesMills Body Combat has given me a chance to explore something I did not realise I had been missing, LesMills+.
I have always been focused on my own classes and the latest releases so I never thought to go back and check out older Body Combat workouts online (those classes before I discovered the workout). LesMills+ is full of them, routines I had never seen before, with different coaching styles, track lists and combinations. I have been doing Combat for three years, participating for two years before becoming an instructor in the past year. It has been a great reminder that there is always something new to learn, even in a programme you know inside out. Watching other instructors deliver the workouts has definitely given me new ideas and a fresh perspective that I can bring back into my own classes.
I am making the most of the LesMills+ 30-day free trial and will continue my subscription at around £80 a year, which is the discounted rate as an instructor. For that price, it is excellent value considering the variety and quality of workouts available.
I have also been making the most of the Body Pump equipment I recently purchased. Having the full kit at home means I can keep my strength training consistent even when I am not in the gym as much. It is easy to set up a quick Body Pump session or focus on specific exercises to strengthen the areas that need extra attention. This flexibility means I can combine strength and cardio on my own schedule, mixing a Combat session one day with a Pump workout the next if I wish.
Taking a slower pace has reminded me that fitness does not always need to be at full intensity. There is value in variety and in exploring new ways to move. Sometimes it is about using the tools you already have, trying something different, and keeping the enjoyment alive. My break from teaching (albeit just 1 week so far) has turned into a great opportunity to explore, learn and keep progressing, just in a slightly different way.
If you are thinking about trying something new, LesMills+ is worth exploring. You can revisit old favourites, discover workouts you have never tried, and mix things up without leaving home. Whether you are taking a short break or just want more variety, it is a simple way to stay active and keep your training fresh.
